Kolkata: Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers's (GRSE) Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) Rear Admiral VK Saxena, IN (Retd.) hoisted the National Flag in Main Works, GRSE on the occasion of Republic Day 2020. GRSE's Director (Finance) SS Dogra, Director (Shipbuilding) Cmde Sanjeev Nayyar, Director (Personnel) Cmde PR Hari and other senior officials of GRSE were present on the occasion.

On the occasion of Republic Day, CMD of GRSE Rear Admiral VK Saxena in his welcome address, paid homage to the Indian soldiers for their greatest sacrifice for the wellbeing of the nation. He also stated that India has achieved a lot in the field of defence, finance and more. Speaking on GRSE achieving the landmark of delivering 11 warships in the last 31 months, he urged employees to continue to improve their efficiency levels and feeling of ownership towards the shipyard to take GRSE forward.

Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Limited (GRSE) is one of India's leading shipyards, located in Kolkata, West Bengal. It builds and repairs commercial and naval vessels. Presently GRSE has also started building export ships in a mission to expand its business. Founded in 1884 as a small privately-owned company on the eastern bank of the Hooghly River, it was renamed as Garden Reach Workshop in 1916. The company was nationalised by the government in 1960. It was awarded the Miniratna status, with accompanying financial and operational autonomy in September 2006. It is the first Indian shipyard to build 100 warships.
