AAI Raipur airport learnt how to handle Wildlife Crime

Raipur: Wild Life Crime Control Bureau, Jabalpur in coordination with Airports Authority of India, Swami Vivekananda Airport Raipur conducted a one-day awareness training program on "Prevention of Wildlife Crime & Trafficking/smuggling of wildlife products" at Raipur Airport on Tuesday. A total of 40 officials of Raipur airport from AAI, BCAS, CISF, Indigo Airlines, Vistara Airlines & Air India, who are mainly engaged in screening/checking/ operational duties participated in the training programme. A. Roy Chowdhury, Regional Deputy Director, WCCB, Jabalpur spread awareness about various aspects of the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972 and explained to Airport Officials in details about various endangered species of animal & plant, how to control its trafficking & legality and procedure to be followed on detection of prohibited animal or plant products during check-in at airport.

Airport Director Rakesh Sahay appreciated the knowledge gain session conducted by Wild Life Crime Control Bureau. He further added that "airport officials are mainly trained on safety & security aspect for a safe journey. By this training participated airport officials gained knowledge about control of trafficking/smuggling of prohibited animal or plants and its product, which definitely added advantages & values to their job."
