BEL signs contract with Airbus for C295 aircraft programme

New Delhi: As part of its offset commitments under the prestigious C295 aircraft programme of the government, and in line with the 'Make in India' policy, Airbus Defence and Space has signed a contract with Navratna Defence PSU Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) for the manufacturing and supply of Radar Warning Receiver (RWR) and Missile Approach Warning System (MAWS). This is BEL's biggest export order received to date. This information has been shared by BEL, in a regulatory filing to the bourses on Monday.

The contract has been signed by BEL’s Director (Bengaluru Complex) Vinay Kumar Katyal, BEL’s Director (Research & Development) MV Raja Sekhar, Airbus Defence & Space’s Sr Vice President (Procurement, Supply Chain & Logistics) Dominique Arnal and Airbus Defence & Space’s Vice President (Procurement Structure, Materials & IT) Annika Mulder. Other senior officials from both organisations were also present on the occasion.

Speaking on the same BEL's Chairperson & Managing Director (CMD) Anandi Ramalingam said, "We are happy to be associated with Airbus Defence and Space in manufacturing and delivering the Radar Warning Receiver (RWR) and Missile Approach Warning System (MAWS) for the prestigious C295 aircraft programme. We look forward to working with Airbus for more such programmes and challenges."
