New Delhi: In a significant move to harness the mineral and coal potential of the North Eastern Region (NER), the Ministry of Mines, in collaboration with the Ministry of Coal and the Government of Assam, will host the 2nd North East Geology and Mining Ministers’ Conclave on June 27–28, 2025, in Guwahati.
Held under the Government of India’s ‘Viksit Bharat’ vision, the event will see participation from all eight North Eastern states. Assam Chief Minister will be the Chief Guest, alongside Mining and Geology Ministers from the region.
The conclave aims to promote sustainable mining, enhance ease of doing business, and strengthen centre-state coordination. The Geological Survey of India will present new mineral exploration findings and release key publications. Several MoUs are also expected to be signed to accelerate exploration efforts under the National Mineral Exploration Trust (NMET).
India’s mineral auction momentum continues, with 515 blocks auctioned so far, including key blocks from Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. The Ministry of Coal will also release two major reports highlighting coal resource development and commercial mining in the region.
Additionally, NLC India Ltd. will present plans to install 1,000 MW of solar power capacity in Assam, supporting India's clean energy goals.
The two-day conclave is set to catalyse investment, innovation, and inclusive growth in the North Eastern region, aligning natural resource development with sustainability and regional progress.
