The first Civil Services Day was celebrated on April 21, 2006, to mark the 50th anniversary of India's Administrative Reforms Commission
Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel addressed the newly appointed Administrative Services Officers on April 21, 1947. The historic occasion took place at the Metcalfe House in Delhi.
Sardar Patel also laid out the golden rules and principles of good governance for civil servants in his address.
