New Delhi: For the post of Director General (DG) of Indo-Tibetan Border Police, AP Maheshwari, a 1984 batch IPS officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre, is said to be taking a lead over the other names. In October last year, he had taken over as the DG of Bureau of Police Research and Development. Prior to this appointment, he was serving as a Special Director in the Border Security Force.

Education & background

Dr AP Maheshwari is 1984 batch, Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre. He has done his masters in business administration (MBA in Finance) and Doctorate in Sociology. He is a qualified member of Cost and Works Accountants of India (ICWA) and also holds a diploma in Computer Application.

Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF)

The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) is India's largest central armed police force. It functions under the control of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) of the government. The CRPF's primary role lies in assisting the State or Union Territories in police operations to maintain law and order and counter-insurgency.
