BPCL wins Golden Peacock Award 2021 for innovative outcome & sustainability

Mumbai: Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) has received the prestigious 'Golden Peacock Innovative Product/Service Award 2021,' for its excellent contribution towards innovative outcomes and sustainability.

The "Golden Peacock Innovative Product/Service Award 2021" has been awarded to the Corporate Research & Development dept., BPCL for the K Model product, a crude compatibility prediction and optimization software. This award is conferred by the Institute of Directors (IOD) based on the recommendations by the Awards Jury under the Chairmanship of Justice MN Venkatachaliah, former Chief Justice of India and former Chairman, National Human Rights Commission of India and National Commission for Constitution of India Reforms. Adding another feather to the cap, K Model is first of its kind product that enables real-time crude compatibility predictions.

While receiving the award, BPCL's Executive Director (In-charge Refineries) Ravitej PV said, "It is a great honour and privilege to receive this prestigious award. The K Model software augments the crude oil sourcing process and avoids fouling in the units, thereby enhances equipment life, leads to energy savings and reduces carbon footprint. I congratulate the team led by Dr Rajeev Kumar and R&D Head Dr Ravi Kumar for this achievement".

K Model is a patented web-based software product for quick and accurate prediction of compatibility of numerous crudes within few clicks. It enables refiners to arrive at an optimum compatible crude oil blend based on economics, availability and processing feasibility on a real-time basis, thereby promoting simultaneous evaluation of multiple blend options.

Further, BPCL has also received the Global Platinum Award 2021 and Energy and Environment Foundation (EEF) Global Awards 2021 by Energy and Environment Foundation.
