New Delhi: Chandan Kumar Mondol is set to be Director (Commercial) of NTPC Limited, a Maharatna PSU under the Ministry of Power. Mondol's name has been recommended by a Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) panel on Tuesday. Currently, Mondol is working as Executive Director (DBF Headquarters) in the same Maharatna Power PSU.

Mondol has been recommended for the post of Director (Commercial) from a list of 11 candidates, who were interviewed by the selection panel. A total of four candidates including Mondol, who were on the list were from NTPC Limited, two candidates were from Indian Railways and others were from NTPC GE Power Services Pvt Limited, NTECL Limited, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) and Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited.

Education & background

Mondol is an alumnus of St. Xavier's College and had completed his bachelor of engineering (BE) from Jadavpur University. He has about 35 years of professional experience in the power sector. His area of experience includes Power Generation, Project Management, Contract Management, Engineering, Procurement, EPC, Renewable Energy and Customer Relationship Management in the power sector. He has served NTPC in various capacities. He had joined NTPC as ET in 1984. Currently, he is also the Chairman of Ratnagiri Gas & Power Pvt Limited, a joint venture (JV) company of NTPC Limited and GAIL (India) Limited.
