New Delhi: Central Mine Planning and Design Institute's (CMPDI) headquarter has become the first subsidiary of Coal India Limited (CIL), which has been recommended for award of ISO 37001: 2016 Anti Bribery Management System (ABMS) certification by the Bureau of Indian Standard (BIS).

Bureau of Indian Standard (BIS), the external certification agency, has conducted the final certification audit of all departments or functions of CMPDI (HQ) from January 6, 2021, to January 8, 2021, and observed the implementation of the Anti – Bribery Management system (ABMS) and its compliance by all the departments are effective in all aspects and CMPDI (HQ) has been recommended for ABMS certification.

ISO 37001:2016 helps an organisation to prevent, detect and respond to bribery and comply with anti-bribery laws and address the organisation activities related to-

– Bribery of the organisation
– Personnel,
– Bribery by the organisation etc.

Certification helps to increase the reliability, trust and confidence of the stakeholders on CMPDI(HQ) as ABMS checks and rules out bribery risk.

CMPDIL has established and implemented the ISO 37001.2016 ABMS since October 2018. From then onwards, CMPDI has framed Anti-Bribery policy and carried out Bribery Risk Assessment of all the process of CMPDI, Internal Audit, Management reviews which lead to compliance of ABMS by all departments and eventually recommended for certification.

The Central Mine Planning and Design Institute (CMPDI) is a fully owned subsidiary of Coal India Limited, engaged in the field of environmental engineering and provides consultancy and engineering services across the globe. CMPDI was established in 1974, under Coal Mines Authority Limited (CMAL) (former name of Coal India Limited), out of the planning division of now-defunct National Coal Development Corporation (NCDC) as a single-window set up to consolidate all aspects of the Indian mining industry under one roof. Subsequent to the nationalisation of coal mining in India, CMPDI was reconstituted as a public sector undertaking in 1975.
