New Delhi/Shimla: Power Grid, a Maharatna PSU under the Ministry of Power, has always been at the forefront in helping societies through its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives. The company has recently extended help to the Municipal Corporation of Shimla by providing financial assistance. Urban Development Minister of Himachal Pradesh Suresh Bhardwaj inaugurated a compactor and sweeping machines which have been provided to the Municipal Corporation Shimla by Power Grid under its CSR initiatives. Further, Power Grid has provided CSR funding for the procurement of four Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) in the state.

As a responsible corporate company, during the COVID pandemic, Power Grid contributed about Rs 200 crore to PM CARES Fund, and distributed Rs 30-crore worth 1,848 metric tonne ration among 2.8 lakh beneficiaries at 276 locations in Himachal Pradesh and various states of India.

Power Grid is 'a Maharatna' PSU under the Ministry of Power and the 'Central Transmission Utility (CTU)' of the country. Power Grid's physical assets, along with its subsidiaries, as of November 30, stood at 1,68,140 ckm of transmission lines, 252 substations and more than 4,20,315 MVA of transformation capacity.

With the adoption of the latest technological tools and techniques, enhanced use of automation and digital solutions, Power Grid maintained average transmission system availability of 99.83 percent.
