New Delhi: Debajit Gogoi has been appointed as the new chief and Executive Director of Indian Oil's Mathura Refinery, an official said on Wednesday.

Gogoi has replaced Asis Kumar Maiti who retired on July 31 as head and Executive Director of Indian Oil Corporation's Mathura refinery, an official spokesperson said.

Prior to his new assignment, Gogoi served as Chief General Manager (Technical) and Executive Director (Technical) in Mathura Refinery for one-and-a-half years.

Gogoi, a graduate in Mechanical Engineering from Jorhat Engineering College, Dibrugarh University, has over three decades of experience in machinery specification, procurement, erection and maintenance of plant and equipment and other refinery operations.

He has worked in various capacities at Bongaigaon Refinery, the official said.

Mathura Refinery, the sixth refinery of Indian Oil, was commissioned in 1982 with a capacity of 6.0 MMTPA to meet the demand of petroleum products in north western region of the country, which includes the National Capital Region.
