New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Sandeep Poundrik (IAS) as Director General (DG) of Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI). According to an office memorandum from the DoPT, "the competent authority has approved the proposal of the Ministry of Home Affairs for the appointment of Sandeep Poundrik for the post till October 7, 2021". Poundrik is a 1993-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of Bihar cadre. He is currently serving as Adviser (Mitigation) in the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) under the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Profile of Sandeep Poundrik (IAS)

Sandeep Poundrik is an IAS officer of Bihar of 1993 batch and is presently posted as Advisor in the NDMA under the Ministry of Home Affairs. He is an Engineering Graduate (Electrical Engg). He has held various positions in the state government as well as in the central government. Prior to joining NDMA, he was serving as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas.

The Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI) is an international coalition of countries, United Nations (UN) agencies, multilateral development banks, the private sector, and academic institutions that aim at promoting disaster-resilient infrastructure. Its objective is to promote research and knowledge sharing in the fields of infrastructure risk management, standards, financing, and recovery mechanisms. It was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the 2019 UN Climate Action Summit in September 2019.
