Govt names Suman Sharma (IRS) as next Managing Director (MD) of SECI

New Delhi: Suman Sharma (IRS) has been appointed as Managing Director (MD) of Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI), a PSU under the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy. She has been appointed to the post at the Joint Secretary level.

Sharma is an Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer of 1990-batch. He is currently posted as Additional DGFT in the Directorate General of Foreign Trade under the Department of Commerce. Currently, Jatindra Nath Swain (IAS) is serving as Chairman & Managing Director (C&MD) of SECI.

As MD of SECI, Sharma will be the chief executive of the corporation. She will be accountable to its board of directors and government and shareholders. She will also be responsible for the efficient functioning of the corporation, and for achieving its corporate objectives and performance parameters.

Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI) is a PSU under the administrative control of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE). The company was set up by the government to facilitate the implementation of JNNSM and the achievement of targets set therein. It is the only CPSU dedicated to solar energy in the sector.
