New Delhi: Hemant Kumar Meena (IFoS) has been appointed as Deputy Secretary in the NITI Aayog, a policy think tank of the government. According to an order from the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), Meena has been appointed as Deputy Secretary in the NITI Aayog for a period up-to August 4, 2024 (i.e. a combined tenure of six-year on Non-CSS and CSS posts), from the date of taking over charge of the post or until further orders, whichever is earlier. He is currently serving as Assistant Inspector General of Forest (AIGF) in the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC). "He may kindly be relieved of her duties immediately with instructions to take up her new assignment in the Ministry of Corporate Affairs," the order further read.

Hemant Kumar Meena is a 2011-batch Indian Forest Service (IFoS) officer of the Maharashtra cadre. He is currently serving as Assistant Inspector General of Forest (AIGF) in the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC)

Meena is an Engineering Graduate (B. Tech in Computer Engineering) from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur. He joined Indian Forest Services (IFoS) in 2011 and currently posted as Assistant Inspector General of Forest (AIGF) in the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC). Prior to taking over as AIGF in MoEF&CC in August 2018, he was posted as Deputy Conservator of Forest in the Revenue & Forest Department of Maharashtra.
