New Delhi: Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL), one of India's leading natural gas distribution companies, has said that the company is set to provide financial support for the development of Carbon Sink under its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative in New Delhi. This Carbon Sink is being developed at Barapullah Drain near Sarai Kale Khan by providing a green patch of plants and trees in the form of an urban forest near its surroundings. The information has been shared by IGL twitter handle on Tuesday. "IGL to fund the development of Carbon Sink near Barapullah drain under CSR. This Carbon Sink is being developed at Barapullah Drain near Sarai Kale Khan by providing a green patch of plants & trees in the form of an urban forest near its surroundings" IGL tweeted.

In this regards a memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed between IGL, Delhi Development Authority (DDA) and Office of Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government in New Delhi on August 11.

Present on the occasion were Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government Professor K Vijay Raghavan (FRS), Principal Commissioner (Horticulture) of DDA Dr Rajiv Kumar Tiwari (IFS), IGL's Managing Director AK Jana, IGL's Director (Commercial) Amit Garg, Senior Adviser to the Office of Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government Dr Shailja Vaidya Gupta, DDA's Director (Horticulture) Ashok Kumar and senior officials from IGL, DDA and Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser.

Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) is one of India's leading natural gas distribution companies. IGL supplies natural gas as cooking and vehicular fuel. The company was established in 1998 and operates primarily in the Indian state of Delhi. The company has taken over and operated the Delhi City Gas Distribution Project from Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL) for laying a network of gas distribution pipelines in the Delhi. The company started as a joint venture between GAIL, Bharat Petroleum and the government of NCT of Delhi.
