New Delhi: Jyothilal KR (lAS) has been appointed as part-time official Director of Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL), a Miniratna PSU under the Ministry of Shipping. He has been appointed as a part-time official Director of Cochin Shipyard with effect from August 24 till further orders. Jyothilal, an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of Kerala cadre, is currently serving as Principal Secretary (Transport) in the state government of Kerala. This information has been shared by the shipping PSU in a regulatory filing to the stock exchange on Monday.

Jyothilal's profile

Jyothilal (IAS) holds a degree of bachelor of technology in Chemical Engineering from IIT-Madras and an MBA from ICFAI University, Hyderabad. He is an lAS officer of 1993 batch (Kerala cadre) and has served in various departments of the government of Kerala viz., land revenue management and district administration, fisheries and agriculture & cooperation, information technology, food, civil supplies & consumer affairs etc. He is currently posted as Principal Secretary (Transport), in the state government of Kerala. Earlier in April 2018 also he was appointed as part-time official Director of CSL.

Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL)

Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) is the largest shipbuilding and maintenance facility under the administrative control of the Ministry of Shipping. It is part of a line of maritime-related facilities in the port-city of Kochi, in the state of Kerala. The company was incorporated in the year 1972 as a fully government-owned company. In the last three decades, the company has emerged as a forerunner in the Indian shipbuilding and ship repair industry. This yard can build and repair the largest vessels in India. It can build ships up to 1,10,000 DWT and repair ships up to 1,25,000 DWT. The yard has delivered two of India's largest double hull Aframax tankers each of 95,000 DWT.
