MECON CMD Atul Bhatt set to be new CMD of RINL-VSP

New Delhi: Atul Bhatt is set to be the new Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of RINL-VSP. He has been recommended by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) panel on Friday. He is currently serving as CMD of MECON Limited, a Ranchi based PSU under the Ministry of Steel. He has been serving as CMD of MECON since October 1, 2016.

Bhatt was the only candidate who was interviewed by the selection panel and recommended for the post of CMD of RINL-VSP.

Bhatt is an engineering graduate (Chemical Engineering) from IIT-Delhi. He also did post-graduation in Management from IIM-Calcutta (1989). Prior to joining MECON he was Executive Director (Business Development and Corporate Planning) in NMDC Limited and was instrumental in the formulation of Strategic Management Plan 2025 for the company. He was also responsible for all mergers & acquisition activities of NMDC Limited. He has also served in Arcelor Mittal as General Manager (Mergers & Acquisition) based in London, UK and as Country Manager (Iran) based in Tehran, Iran. Bhatt has also worked in Tata Steel for a number of years, where he started his career as a Graduate Trainee in 1986.

The CMD of RINL-VSP, Bhatt will be the chief executive of the company and will be accountable to its board of directors and the government of India. He also will be responsible for the efficient functioning of the company and for achieving its corporate objectives and performance parameters.
