New Delhi: Union Ministers of External Affairs Dr S Jaishankar and Youth Affairs & Sports Kiren Rijiju jointly laid the foundation stone of 6 nos. Squash Courts at Major Dhyan Chand Stadium, Delhi to be constructed by NBCC (India) Limited.  Sports Authority of India's (SAI) Director General (DG) Sandip Pradhan, Joint Secretary (Sports-Development) LS Singh, Secretary-General of Squash Rackets Federation of India Cyrus Poncha and NBCC (India) Limited's Director (Projects) Neelesh Shah along with other officials of Ministry of Sports, SAI & NBCC were also present on the occasion.

They (Ministers) appreciated NBCC (India) Limited for its commitment to pre-construction activity of this project and to start the work in the record time of three months after award work. The Squash Courts to be constructed will match international standards.

The project will be implemented over an area of 750 square metres at a sanctioned cost of Rs 5.52 crores. The estimated completion time for the project is six months. The facility will have six single squash courts, of which three courts can be converted as doubles courts using movable walls.

NBCC (India) Limited, formerly National Buildings Construction Corporation Limited, is a blue-chip Navratna enterprise and a PSU which trades publicly in the market. NBCC acquired 100 per cent stake in Miniratna hospital consultancy firm Hospital Services Consultancy Corporation Limited (HSCC) from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on November 6, 2018. The organisation acquired over 51 percent stake in Hindustan Steelworks Construction Limited (HSCL), a PSU under the Steel Ministry in 2017.
