PESB recommends Upinder Singh Matharu for BHEL’s Director (Power) post

• Upinder Singh Matharu set to be BHEL's next Director (Power)
• Matharu has been recommended for the post by the PESB panel
• He is currently serving as Executive Director in BHEL only

New Delhi: Upinder Singh Matharu is set to be the next Director (Power) of Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), a Maharatna PSU under the Ministry of Heavy Industry. He has been recommended for the post by a panel of the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) on Friday. Currently, Matharu is serving as Executive Director in the same organisation.

Upinder Singh Matharu has been recommended for the post of Director (Power) of BHEL from a list of seven candidates who were interviewed by the selection panel. There were a total of six candidates including Matharu from BHEL, and one candidate was from NTPC Limited.

Matharu joined BHEL as General Manager in June 2014 and subsequently rose to the current position. The post of Director (Power) of BHEL is vacant since February 1.

As Director (Power) of BHEL, Matharu will be a member of the Board of Directors and will report to the Chairman and Managing Director (CMD). He will be responsible for maximizing BHEL's market share and providing end-to-end solutions for the power sector business of the company.

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) is a Maharatna PSU under the Ministry of Heavy Industries. It is an engineering and manufacturing company based in New Delhi. BHEL is India's largest power generation equipment manufacturer.
