Gandhinagar: At the AKAM mega show in Gandhinagar, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL) has displayed its flagship test station from Bina, Madhya Pradesh, which features the world's highest voltage 1,200 kV UHVAC technology. Power Grid's stall positioned at stall no B-10, Hall No-1 was visited by curious onlookers and drew the attention of both young and old. The stall is part of the exhibition on "Nation Building & CPSEs" being organised by the Department of Public Enterprises (DPE). The exhibition opened to the public on Friday.

At its stall, Power Grid, which is a Maharatna Company and one of the largest power transmission utilities in the world, has showcased its technological prowess, key achievements and contribution towards the nation's growth.

AKAM mega show: What else is on display?

The aesthetically-built stall also displays Power Grid's pioneering initiatives of realising the dream of 'One Nation, One Grid, One Frequency,' which has made it possible for India to transmit electricity from one corner of the nation to another. The stall also displays the HVDC Voltage Source Convertor (VSC) project (first of its kind in India) which was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The digital LED panels at the stall displayed Power Grid's efforts towards Renewable Energy (RE) integration initiatives, which is a pressing issue as India plans to source 500 GW of its total power demand from non-fossil fuel-based sources by 2030. The Maharatna PSU has also put on display its actual live-line maintenance uniform and equipments which allows the company to carry out maintenance work on live transmission lines with minimum disruption.

Power Grid has been undertaking myriad CSR activities which is being communicated to the attendees through films and AVs. Other key attraction for masses was the 'selfie-photo booth' with the theme of 'Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav,' apart from a mega quiz on Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav wherein participants were rewarded.
