New Delhi: PowerGrid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL), a Maharatna PSU under the Ministry of Power, has provided two life support ambulances to the district administration of Gurugram in order to aid Haryana in its fight against Coronavirus, the company said in a tweet. Since Coronavirus emerged as a pandemic, the Maharatna PSU has not only contributed to the PM CARES Fund but has also provided essentials to needy people across the country. 

POWERGRID's Director (Personnel) VK Singh handed over the keys to the two life support ambulances to the Additional Chief Secretary of Haryana and the CEO of Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA), VS Kundu, in the presence of Commissioner (Gurugram) Ashok Sangwan and Deputy Commissioner (Gurugram) Amit Khatri. So far, POWERGRID has donated a total of eight life support ambulances to the government of Haryana under its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative. Additional Chief Secretary and other officials appreciated POWERGRID's efforts to aid Haryana in fighting COVID-19. Gaurav Singh, Additional Chief Executive Officer & Regional Head-HCSRAB (Gurugram), and AK Dixit, Senior General Manager, CSR (POWERGRID), were also present on the occasion.

It is a Maharatna PSU under the administrative control of the Ministry of Power. The company transmits about 50 percent of the total power generated in India through the transmission network.
