Prabir Kumar Gangopadhyay appointed as Director (Personnel & Administration) in SCI

New Delhi: Prabir Kumar Gangopadhyay has been appointed as Director (Personnel & Administration) of Shipping Corporation of India (SCI). The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment for the post. He has been appointed to the post for a period with effect from the date of his assumption of charge of the post till the date of his superannuation, i.e. 30.11.2022, or until further orders, whichever is earlier. He is serving as General Manager in the same organisation. Currently, SCI's Director (Bulk Carrier & Tankers) Atul Ubale is holding an additional charge as Director (P&A) of SCI.

Gangopadhyay was recommended for the post of Director (P&A) of SCI by the PESB panel on May 12. He was selected from a list of three candidates, who were interviewed by the selection panel. There were a total of two candidates including Gangopadhyay from SCI and one candidate was from Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited.

As Director (P&A) of SCI, Gangopadhyay will be a member of the Board of Directors of the company and will report to the Chairman & Managing Director (CMD). He also will be responsible for maintaining smooth industrial relations, administration and development of human resources of the company.
