President confers Vayoshreshtha Samman to ALIMCO

The award was presented to the CMD ALIMCO by the President in recognition of the best PSU in promoting the well-being & welfare of senior citizens

New Delhi: President Ram Nath Kovind presented the "Vayoshreshtha Samman-2019" to the eminent senior citizens and institutions along with Miniratna PSU ALIMCO in recognition of their services towards the cause of the elderly persons in New Delhi on October 3, 2019. The awards were given away to mark the 'International Day of Older Persons'.

The President conferred Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO) under the category the 'best public sector organisation in promoting the wellbeing & welfare of senior citizens'. The award was received by ALIMCO's CMD DR Sarin, in presence of Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Krishan Pal Gurjar and Secretary, Neelam Sawhney who were present on the occasion. Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment, Thaawarchand Gehlot was presiding the function.

Vayoshreshtha Samman

Vayoshreshtha Samman is a scheme of awards instituted by the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment and gradually upgraded to the status of National Awards, for institutions involved in rendering distinguished service for the cause of elderly persons especially indigent senior citizens and to eminent citizens in recognition of their service and achievements. These awards are presented as part of the celebration of the International Day of Older Persons (IDOP) which is celebrated every year on 1st October. The awards are intended to be conferred on eminent senior citizens and institutions involved in rendering distinguished services for the cause of elderly persons especially indigent senior citizens. The recipients are drawn from diverse fields. The Awards are given to institutions, organisations, individuals from any part of the country.
