New Delhi: The 41st PSPB Inter Unit Table Tennis Tournament being organised by Engineers India Limited (EIL) from April 18 to April 21 at Indira Gandhi Stadium, New Delhi was inaugurated by Union Minister of State for Petroleum & Natural Gas and Labour & Employment Rameswar Teli in the presence of EIL’s C&MD Vartika Shukla and Sr. Management officials from oil PSUs and PSPB.

Speaking on the occasion, Teli said that the Government is committed to provide all possible encouragement and support to our athletes. “In the recent past, our athletes have excelled at the world stage in different events including Asian Games, Commonwealth Games & other tournaments. Significant progress has been made in the world of sports in line with the Hon'ble Prime Minister's mantra of ‘Khelega India tabhi to badhega India’,” he added. Addressing the gathering, Shukla said that players from PSPB fraternity have brought many laurels at the international level and have made the country proud with their accomplishments. She called upon the players to take part in the matches with the spirit of sportsmanship and healthy competition.

The occasion was also graced by eminent table tennis players of oil & gas majors such as ONGC, IOCL, GAIL, BPCL, OIL, HPCL, MRPL, Petronet LNG, EIL and national & international players of India such as Achanta Sharath Kamal, Gnanasekaran Sathiyan, Harmeet Desai, Manav Thakkar, Sanil Shetty, Soumyajit Ghosh, Divya Deshpande, Mouma Das, among others.

This edition of the PSPB Table Tennis Tournament is being hosted by EIL as one of the important member organisations of the PSPB. This four-day extravaganza in the heart of national capital is anticipated to feature the Table Tennis competitions in both singles and doubles format among men, women and veteran categories.
