New Delhi: Rajesh Agrawal, a 1980 batch officer of Indian Railway Services of Mechanical Engineering (IRSME), has taken over as a new member of Rolling Stock, Railway Board, and ex-officio Secretary to the government. Before this, Agrawal was General Manager of Modern Coach Factory, Raebareli, and has to his credit an elaborate book on railway’s world heritage sites, titled All Indian Railways World Heritage Sites Inscriptions.
Over the years, he has worked in turnaround management and operation manufacturing and looked after logistics, engineering and public administration in the railways. He has also served as UNESCO/ICOMOS expert in World Heritage, Environment, Tourism, Culture, Museum, Conversation, Sustainable development, Stakeholder-Frameworks, Community. His academic qualification includes three Engineering degrees in Mechanical Electrical and Metallurgical Engineering.
Having served in eight zonal Railways, Agarwal has been given many awards, including Gold Medals in IE (India) ’81, NAIR ’85, GM ’95, Hindi-Board’s Award ’88, UNESCO Best Project ’07 Barker Robbins Prize, among others.
