Ravinder Singh Dhillon set to be new CMD of PFC

New Delhi: Ravinder Singh Dhillon is set to be new Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of Power Finance Corporation Limited (PFC), a Navratna PSU under the administrative control of the Ministry of Power. Dhillon's name has been recommended by a Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) panel on Monday. He is currently serving as Director (Projects) in the same organisation. With his this promotion, Dhillon will replace Rajeev Sharma, who has been serving as CMD of PFC since October 1, 2016.

Dhillon has been recommended for the post of CMD of PFC from a list of seven candidates, who were interviewed by the selection panel. A total of three candidates who were on the list were from PFC and others were from Rural Electrification Corporation Limited (REC), Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI), Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) and one candidate was employed with the state government of Tripura.

Educational background

Dhillon is Engineering (Electrical) graduate from Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology, Patiala (Punjab). He also holds an MTech in Power Systems from IIT Delhi. He has more than 34 years of experience in various areas of the power sector. Dillon has had a very long association with PFC for 26 years. He has worked in various capacities in PFC, including handling project appraisal, business development, stressed assets' revival and monitoring of projects. He was promoted as Director (Projects) of PFC Limited on June 12. Prior to this promotion, he was serving as Executive Director in the same organisation.

Before joining PFC, Dhillon worked with Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) and Central Electricity Authority for nine years. He has been a nominee director of PFC on the boards of various private and state-sector power companies. He also served as Director (Public Grievances) in PFC.
