Sanjiv Kumar (IAS) gets additional charge as JS of Department of Food & Public Distribution

New Delhi: Sanjiv Kumar (IAS) has been given additional charge as Joint Secretary of the Department of Food & Public Distribution. According to an order from the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), He has been given the additional charge of the post for a period of three months or until further orders, whichever is earlier. With his new assignment, Kumar will replace Edwin K Majhi (IAS).

Sanjiv Kumar is a 1992-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the AGMUT cadre. He is currently serving as Executive Director (North) of Food Corporation of India (FCI).

Department of Food & Public Distribution

Department of Food & Public Distribution is a Department under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution. The primary policy objective of the department is to ensure food security for the country through timely and efficient procurement and distribution of food grains. This involves procurement of various food grains, building up and maintenance of food stocks, their storage, movement and delivery to the distributing agencies and monitoring of production, stock and price levels of food grains.
