Luhri-1 HEP: SJVN signs agreement with Voith Hydro for electro-mechanical works

New Delhi: SJVN Limited has entered into a contract agreement for the electro-mechanical works of 210 MW Luhri hydro-electric project (HEP) stage-1 with Voith Hydro (P) Ltd. SJVN Limited's General Manager (ECD) SK Sood and Voith's Vice President Raj Vidyarthi signed the contract agreement on behalf of their respective organisation. SJVN Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) Nand Lal Sharma, Director (Personnel) Geeta Kapur Director, Director (Civil) SP Bansal, Director (Finance) Akhileshwar Singh, Director (Electrical) Sushil Sharma and Voith Hydro (P) Ltd's Managing Director Ravinder Kalra and senior officials of SJVN were present on the occasion.

SJVN CMD apprised that the electro-mechanical works amounting to Rs 420.28 crores, have been awarded to Voith Hydro Pvt. Ltd on August 16. The same is to be completed in line with the work schedule of the project, which is targeted for commissioning by May 24, 2025. "The civil and hydro-mechanical works have already been awarded on November 24, 2020, and construction activities on the same are in full swing" he added.

Luhri Hydro Electric Project -1 is a run-off river scheme with diurnal storage and Dam-Toe surface Power House in Shimla and Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh. The total capacity of the project is 210 MW, having 4 Nos. of Kaplan Turbine with 2 Main units of 80 MW and 2 Auxiliary units of 25 MW each. The cost of the Project is 1,810.56 crores and has the potential to generate 758 million units of electricity annually.
