New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinets (ACC) has approved the appointment of Subrata Shekhar Sinha as Director (Technical) of Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL) on Tuesday. According to an order issued on April 28, Sinha has been appointed on the post for a period of with effect from the date of his assumption of charge of the post till the date of his superannuation i.e. September 30, 2022, or until further orders, whichever is earlier. He is currently serving as General Manager of South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL).

Earlier, PSU Watch had reported that Sinha was recommended for the post of Director (Technical) of NCL by a PESB panel on January 6. He was selected from a list of 10 candidates, who were interviewed by the selection panel.
NCL is a subsidiary of the largest coal producer of the world: Coal India Limited (CIL). NCL produces 15 percent of the total coal produced in the country and contributes 10 percent in total electricity generation of the nation. The company, which is headquartered in Singrauli district of Madhya Pradesh, operates through its 10 highly mechanised opencast mines spread across Singrauli and Sonebhadra districts of Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.
