Sushil Kumar Sharma assumes charge as Director (Electrical) of SJVN Limited

New Delhi: Sushil Kumar Sharma has joined as Director (Electrical) of SJVN Limited, a Miniratna PSU under the Power, on Saturday.  Prior to this assignment, Sharma was holding the post of General Manager and was in charge of Mechanical Maintenance of India's largest underground 1500 MW Nathpa Jhakri Hydro Power Station. With this, he has succeeded RK Bansal who superannuated on July 31.

On Januaury 21, Sharma was recommended for the post of Director (Electrical) of SJVN Limited by the Public Enterprises Selection (PESB) panel. He was selected from a list of seven candidates, who were interviewed by the selection panel. A total of six candidates including Sharma, who were on the list were from SJVN Limited and one other candidate was from NHPC Limited.

Sharma's profile

Sharma is an Engineering Graduate (Mechanical Engineering) from VNIT Nagpur. He has more than 30 years of rich and varied work experience with various organisations including SJVN.  He started his career in HP State Technical Education Service in 1990. He joined SJVN in January 1994 as Assistant Engineer and worked in various Departments and Projects and rose to the level of General Manager.

In SJVN, he has been actively associated with the design and construction of 1,500 MW Nathpa Jhakri project and 412 MW Rampur project. He has a vast experience in design, erection and maintenance of hydropower plants.  Initially, he has worked in the design office of SJVN for about 19 years and was associated in the planning and design of hydro-mechanical components of various projects. Later, he played a crucial role in the successful erection and commissioning of 412 MW Rampur hydropower station. After commissioning, he was in charge of maintenance of electrical and mechanical components of 412 MW Rampur Hydro Power Station. Subsequently, he held the charge of mechanical maintenance of 1500 MW Nathpa Jhakri Hydro Power Station.

SJVN Limited

SJVN Limited, a Miniratna PSU under the administrative control of Ministry of Power, was incorporated on May 24, 1988, as a joint venture of the government and the state government of Himachal Pradesh. SJVN is now a listed company having shareholders pattern of 61.93 percent with government 26.85 percent with the government of Himachal Pradesh and rest of 11.22 percent with Public, according to the company's website. SJVN Limited is in the process of developing power projects which are in different stages of development in India as well as the neighbouring countries Nepal and Bhutan.
