New Delhi: Virendra Nath Datt has taken over the additional charge of Chairman and Managing Director (C&MD) of National Fertilizers Limited (NFL), a Miniratna PSU under the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, on Wednesday. He is associated with the company as Director (Marketing) since October 2018. Earlier, Manoj Mishra was holding the post, who demitted the office on June 2, upon his superannuation.

Virendra Nath Datt's profile

Datt is an MBA from Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak. He has a rich professional experience of over 35 years with premier CPSEs such as GAIL (India) Limited and ONGC, besides the fertilizer industry.

Prior to joining NFL, Datt was serving as Executive Director in GAIL (India) Limited, where he has handled all India marketing operations of the company in addition to corporate strategy, planning and advocacy. He was also a Director on the Board of Mahanagar Gas Limited, Mumbai.

In addition to this, Datt also had a 10-year stint with ONGC before joining GAIL in 1995.

Achievements

As Director (Marketing) at NFL, Datt is credited with sustained growth in fertilizer sale of the company from 43 Lakh MT in 2017-18 to 57 Lakh MT in 2019-20, an increase of 32 percent over previous two years. During this period, the NFL established a pan India footprint in the fertilizer industry.

National Fertilizers Limited

National Fertilizers Limited (NFL) is a Miniratna PSU under the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers. NFL is a state-owned producer of chemical fertilizers, organic fertilizers and industrial chemicals. NFL, incorporated in 1974, is India's largest Central Public Sector Enterprise in Fertilizer Sector with a turnover of over Rs 75 billion. Coming under the administrative control of the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, it is the second-largest producer of the key fertilizer Urea in India. NFL has five gas-based ammonia-urea plants, viz Nangal and Bathinda in Punjab, Panipat in Haryana and two at Vijaipur (Madhya Pradesh).
