New Delhi: The Quality Circle teams of SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) have brought laurels to the Maharatna company by winning four gold at the 47th International Convention on Quality Control Circles (ICQCC) 2022 held at Jakarta, from November 15-18. "The Samadhan Quality Circle Team of Steel Melting Shop – I that had participated in the competition physically was the first team of the plant to clinch Gold Award on November 16. It was followed by three other teams that participated online bagging gold in their respective categories. They are Milan QC of SMS – I, Naye Udaan QC of Steel Melting Shop – II and Parivartan QC of Blast Furnace," said the company in the statement.

MILAN QC worked on 'Elimination of puffing from converter mouth'

"The project of the MILAN QC team was on the topic "Elimination of puffing from converter mouth" The team members involved in the project were- Sapan Kumar Behera, Senior Technician, Kedar Kumar Nayak, Master Technician, Amar Kumar Bhuyan, ACT, Saroj Kumar Behera, Senior Technician and  Brajabandhu Parida, Senior Technician. The facilitator was M Pushkar, Deputy Manager," said the company in the statement.

Nayee Udaan QC worked on 'Improving the productivity and profitability by introducing on the slab measurement system in Caster-3 of SMS-II'

"Nayee Udaan QC team's project was on "Improving the productivity and profitability by introducing on the slab measurement system in Caster-3 of SMS-II." Somnath Padhee, Assistant Manager facilitated the team that consisted of Prashant Kumar Naik, MOMT, Prabhakar Patra, SOST, Deepak Kumar Mohanty, MOMT, Bhagyadhar Sahoo, SOST and Amulya Kumar Bisoi, SOST," said the company's statement.

Parivartan QC worked on 'Enhancement of Blast Furnace – 4 Hot Metal production'

"The project of Parivartan QC team was "Enhancement of Blast Furnace – 4 hot metal production". The members of the respective QC team were-Chandrakanta Sahoo, G Mohanta, P K Khatua and Dileswar Mahanta, all Master Technicians and K C Panda, Master Technician (Design). The facilitator of the team was Sashi Bushan Satpathy, Manager (BF)," said the company's statement.

Samadhan QC worked on 'Prevention of soft water problem in Caster of SMS-I'

Samadhan QC team received the gold award for successful implementation of the project "Prevention of soft water problem in Caster of SMS-I." The members of the team were- AK Samantara, S K Das, A K Das and J D Mohapatra, the Senior Technicians and S K Khadagray, MOMT. B. Behera, Assistant Manager was facilitating the group.

Active participation in QCs is driving the company towards efficiency building: Mondol
