New Delhi: To mark the 75 years of 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' Airports Authority of India (AAI) celebrated the 8th International Yoga Day on June 21, 2022. The celebration was spread over to all the airports in North East Region. The stakeholders at these airports were also invited to be a part of the celebration.

At North East Regional headquarter, Guwahati the 8th International Yoga Day was celebrated in the New Communicty hall at AAI residential colony. As per the protocol received from AYUSH Ministry, different asan of Yoga were to be performed by the employees of different departments. In 2014 Prime Minister Narendra Modi had put forth the proposal of celebrating Yoga at the International level and the same was passed in the UN to celebrate it across the Globe and the today's theme issued by Ayush Ministry "Yoga for Humanity" should not only be confined to yourself but should be spread across Globe as brand India.

Yoga at AAI Guwahati was demonstrated by the famous Yoga guru Swami Gurang Dev ji from Patanjali Yog Sansthan, Mirza Guwahati. On the occasion, AAI's Regional Executive Director Ravi Kant had impressed upon the befits of Yoga and encourages all the participants to become regular yogi so that the standard of living of all the living beings is uplifted.

It was also emphasized that performing Yoga, Prayanaam and Dhyan on daily basis not only energizes one's mind, body and soul but also enhances the performance on each aspects of life. Generally, age is no bar and anyone can start practising yoga for spiritual, mental, psychological and physical gain. He also urged and requested the participants that becoming a yoga follower is one part and teaching others to be healthy and wealthy from daily preaching yoga is also important.

Yoga Day has been celebrated with enthusiastic participation by AAI and other stakeholders at all the airports in the NE region. At Shillong Airport the AAI employees along with the CISF, India Tourism, Airline members and other stakeholders celebrated the day at the airport premises under the guidance of instructors from The Art of Living. Similarly, at Dimapur, the morning Yoga session began with meditation in association with NE Zonal Cultural Centre. AAI employees their family members and CISF personnel participated in Yoga.

Similar activities were observed at Agartala, Imphal, Lilabari, Dibrugarh, Silchar, Jorhat, Tezpur, Rupsi and Tezu Airports.

After the protocol given by the Ayush Ministry for the celebration of the 8th International Yoga day, Shri Gian Batra, General Manager, Human Resource expressed his sincere recognition to the yoga guru and advised all participants to include yoga as a way of life at home and spread Yoga in society. It is a way to keep ourselves energized as was done in ancient times by saints, sages monks etc. India is a land of rich culture which has given the art of Yoga to the world.

After the Yoga and meditation session, a Hawan was also performed in the same vicinity to purify Mother Nature and to connect all the participants with Nature. In the end, the mantra for "Sarve Bhavantu Sukhina.. "All the creation on earth should remain prosperous and happy.. was chanted by the participants.
