AAI makes kids’ dream to fly come true

Guwahati: 'We always used to see aeroplane flying over our houses and wondered whether we will ever get a chance to sit inside and now it has come true for most of us at MKM primary school.' said Prince, when asked about hows, is he feeling about flying all the way to Delhi in an aeroplane. Prince is a student of MKM primary school. Under the corporate social responsibility programme, AAI NER organised an educational tour for these school children who boarded Air Asia flight from Guwahati Airport to Delhi on Tuesday morning.

Interacting with children at the Airport, Sanjeev Jindal Regional Executive Director, AAI North-Eastern Region said that the day he joined here, he first visited these school children at Garal community centre and had assured them that if school management wishes to, he could take them for air travel. Since that day and today, their dream to fly is now a reality and it gives him immense pleasure to facilitate them for flying.

As a responsible organization, AAI is always concerned for the people affected by airport projects, he added. We are striving to connect privileged with unprivileged people in and around airports. The Garal community centre, near Guwahati Airport, is being constructed under the CSR scheme of AAI for Rs 2.37 Cr. AAI has taken up many other CSR initiative in NER. With UNDP for development of villages around Rani Block, with Akshaya Patra for mechanised kitchen for Mid Day Meals, Jindal informed.

She also handed over the boarding passes to the children at the airport and said, 'I am feeling privileged to be a part of this occasion and this initiative of AAI will definitely encourage children to do better and chose job oriented courses in future.' It came like a surprise for children to be with their celebrity who was interacting and spent a joyous moment with them while boarding an aircraft. Ramesh Kumar Airport Director Guwahati Airport and senior AAI officials were also present at the airport to see off the children.
