Guwahati: Airports Authority of India (AAI) organised a symposium on 'airport infrastructure and safety' at northeast regional headquarters, Guwahati on Tuesday. The symposium was inaugurated regional executive director Sanjeev Jindal and dignitaries present on the occasion. Addressing the symposium Jindal said that huge investments are coming to the northeastern region in the field of aviation, railways, oil sector, road etc, and all these require challenges of logistic to reach remote places and higher terrains.

Aviation is the sector that provides direct connectivity to the remote areas of north-east even in the tough conditions with affordable rates, and of course faster way of commute. Stakeholders involved in the sustainable development of the areas need the support of our and we depend on them for various other requirements, he added. The General Manager of New Guwahati Airport Project JT Radha Krishna, who was coordination the symposium said that this is the opportunity for all concerned to sit and discuss under one roof that how we can enable and trigger the growth of our output in the respective sectors, ultimately contributing in progress of the North East.

Ramesh Kumar, Airport Director, Guwahati Airport, General Managers of AAI, along with the dignitaries form Indian Railways, Indian Oil refinery and building & safety manufacturing and suppliers were also present on the occasion. Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing Company (3M), Armstory, Terrearemee, Grundfos and many other big companies also participated in the symposium and delivered a brief but useful presentation on the subject.

The topics which were mainly discussed in the AAI symposium included safety in the infrastructure, fire preventing solutions, building materials safety, welding hotspot solutions, ceiling solutions etc. The symposium concluded with vote of thanks from the project engineers of the new terminal building, Guwahati Airport promising to meet and help in up keeping of safety as an utmost factor in the industry.
