AAI restricts entry of tourists & visitors inside RUPSI Airport

Rupsi/Guwahati: The re-development works of Rupsi Airport in Assam is being done by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) and efforts are on to operationalize the airport soon for the airline operators and serving the people of the area.

It is also understood that the construction works have gained momentum to commission Rupsi Airport shortly and is near completion. Now several critical air navigational and communication equipment are being installed inside the airport. Airports Authority of India (AAI) is the main stakeholder to operate Rupsi Airport along with the state of Assam.

At present, works related to critical installations for flight operations are in progress. Also ahead of the commissioning of this Airport, it has become inevitable to give topmost priority on security-related aspects of the airport.

In view of the above parameters, AAI has felt that it is necessary to restrict entry to all tourist and the visitors inside Rupsi Airport premises. In this regards, AAI expects cooperation from all responsible citizens and stakeholders concerned.

There has been a demand from a wide section of people residing in Dhubri, Kokrajhar, Goalpara and Chirang districts in Assam and the Garo Hills in Meghalaya for its revival. Residents of all these areas need to travel to Guwahati for air connectivity.

Airports Authority of India (AAI) is developing this airport under the Regional Connectivity Scheme, UDAN of Govt.
