ACC appoints Atul Bhatt as CMD of RINL-VSP

New Delhi: Atul Bhatt is the new Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of RINL-VSP, as the government has approved his appointment. According to Personnel Ministry, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the proposal of the Ministry of Steel for the appointment of Bhatt as CMD of RINL-VSP for a period with effect the date of his assumption of charge of the post till the date of his superannuation i.e. November 30, 2024, or until further orders, whichever is earlier. He is currently serving as CMD of MECON Limited.

PSU Watch is the first organisation to report when Bhatt was recommended for the post on June 25. He Bhatt was the only candidate who was interviewed by the selection panel and recommended for the post of CMD of RINL-VSP.

Bhatt is an engineering graduate (Chemical Engineering) from IIT-Delhi. He also did post-graduation in Management from IIM-Calcutta (1989). Prior to joining MECON he was Executive Director (Business Development and Corporate Planning) in NMDC Limited and was instrumental in the formulation of Strategic Management Plan 2025 for the company. He was also responsible for all mergers & acquisition activities of NMDC Limited. He has also served in Arcelor Mittal as General Manager (Mergers & Acquisition) based in London, UK and as Country Manager (Iran) based in Tehran, Iran. Bhatt has also worked in Tata Steel for a number of years, where he started his career as a Graduate Trainee in 1986.

RINL-VSP is a Navratna PSU under the Ministry of Steel. The company has grown from a loss-making industry to a 3-billion-dollar turnover company registering a growth of 203.6 percent in just four years.
