New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the proposal of the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas for the appointment of S Ramesh as Managing Director (MD) of Bharat Petro Resources Limited (BPRL). According to a personnel Ministry order issued on September 6, Ramesh has been appointed to the post for a period with effect from the date of his assumption of charge of the post till the date of his superannuation, i.e. July 31, 2022, or until further orders, whichever is earlier. He is currently serving as General Manager in Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL).
Earlier PSU Watch had reported when Ramesh was recommended for the post of MD of BPRL by the PESB panel on May 27. He was selected from a list of nine candidates, who were interviewed by the selection panel. There were a total of five candidates including Ramesh, who were on the list, were from BPCL, two candidates from Oil & Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) and one each from GAIL (India) Limited and Repco Home Finance Limited.
Bharat Petro Resources Limited (BPRL) is a wholly-owned subsidiary company of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) which focuses on providing partial supply security of crude. Bharat Petroleum entered the upstream sector in 2003 with an aim to provide partial supply security of crude and hedging of price risks and to become a vertically integrated oil company. With the additional aim of strengthening the company’s bottom line by the name Bharat Petro Resources Limited (BPRL) was incorporated in October 2006.
