New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the proposal for the extension in the services of Samant Kumar Goel (IPS) as Secretary of Research & Analysis Wing (RAW). According to an order from the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), Goel has been given a tenure extension for a period of one year beyond the present tenure i.e. June 30.
Goel is a 1984-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the Punjab cadre. Currently, he is posted as Secretary of the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), India's Foreign Intelligence Agency. He was appointed as the Secretary of RAW on June 16, 2019.
Further, in a separate order issued on the same day, ACC has also approved the proposal for the extension in the services of Arvinda Kumar (IPS) as Director of Intelligence Bureau (IB). According to the DoPT order, Kumar has been given a tenure extension for a period of one year beyond the present tenure i.e. June 30, 2021.
Kumar is a 1984-batch IPS officer of Assam cadre. He is currently posted as Director of the Intelligence Bureau (IB). He was appointed on June 26, 2019, as the 27th Director of Intelligence Bureau succeeding Rajiv Jain. Kumar has been working with the IB since 1991. He is a recipient of the President's Police Medal for Distinguished Service and consistent performance.
