New Delhi: Adwait Kumar Singh (IAS) has been appointed as Under Secretary in the Department of Health & Family Welfare under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare. The government has approved his appointment on Thursday. According to an order from the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), Singh has been appointed to the post under the Central Staffing Scheme by temporarily downgrading one post of Deputy Secretary of the Central Staffing Scheme in the Department of Health & Family Welfare till he is appointed as Deputy Secretary with effect from January 1, 2022 for a period of four years or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
"He may kindly be relieved of his duties immediately with instructions to take up his new assignment in the D/o Health & Family Welfare," the order added.
Adwait Kumar Singh is a 2013-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Telangana cadre. He is currently posted as Executive Assistant to Telangana Chief Secretary.
Department of Health and Family Welfare is a department under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The ministry charged with health policy in India while the department is implementing agency of it and also responsible for all government programmes relating to family planning in India. The Minister of Health and Family Welfare holds cabinet rank as a member of the Council of Ministers. The current minister is Harsh Vardhan. Since 1955, the Ministry regularly publishes the Indian Pharmacopoeia through the Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC), an autonomous body for setting standards for drugs, pharmaceuticals and healthcare devices and technologies in India.
