New Delhi/Lucknow: The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC)’s Chief Regional Manager (Lucknow) Ajit Kumar Sinha (IRTS) has been awarded 'ET Inspiring Leader in the Northern States Award' for successfully handling Tejas train operations and promoting tourism in the state of Uttar Pradesh. Kumar is an Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS) officer of the 2006-batch. He has been holding the additional charge as Chief Regional Manager of IRCTC-Lucknow since July 2021.

Apart from successfully handling the Tejas train, Kumar is looking after the passenger service business of Indian Railways related to catering and tourism in the region of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Prior to this, he has served in different capacities in the field of operations and commercial business of Indian Railways.

Kumar has earned laurels for many things while heading the operations of Lucknow division viz. improving the freight business of division, flawless operations of a large number of special trains during Ardh Kumbh, handling of the herculean task of managing the hundreds of Shramik Specials during COVID-19 and running of oxygen specials during the second wave are some of them.

While handling the assignment of the commercial wing, he earned the distinction of framing and implementing the public-private partnership model for goods shed development. For his exemplary works, he has been awarded twice with Rail Minister Awards.
