AK Kalra assumes charge as Director (HR) of EIL

New Delhi: Ashok Kumar Kalra has been appointed as Director (HR) of Engineers India Limited (EIL), a Navratna PSU under the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas (MoPNG) on March 1. Prior to this appointment, he was serving as Executive Director (HR) in the same organisation. According to the order from the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Kalra has been appointed on EIL board for a period with effect from March 1, till the date of his superannuation i.e. September 30, 2023, or until further orders, whichever is the earlier.

Kalra was recommended for Director post by a PESB panel on August 1, 2019. He was selected from the list of six candidates who were interviewed by the selection panel.

Education & background

Kalra is an engineering graduate from REC Rourkela. He started his career as site engineer in Shapoorji Pallonji & Company Limited. He had joined EIL in January 1992.

Kalra had worked in various projects in the field of Refineries, Petrochemicals, Pipelines, Infrastructure, etc. After working for more than 21 years in Projects and Construction, he has been associated with HR directorate since 2007. He has experience in various facets of HR functions such as- manpower planning, talent acquisition, talent development, performance management, compensation & benefits, policy formulations, grievance redressal, welfare, administration, training, industrial relations, talent retention etc.

He has also been involved in formulating HR vision, mission & objectives, organization restructuring, institutionalising leadership development programme, implementing Rajbhasha policy and transforming HR as a strategic partner in the company’s operations. He has made an extensive contribution to the digitisation of HR processes & policies, corporate planning, corporate branding and CSR. He is a certified workplace coach and Mentor.
