ACC approves number of appointments on JS/JS equivalent level

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved a number of appointments of officers at Joint Secretary/Joint Secretary equivalent level

New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) headed by the Prime Minister has approved a number of appointments of officers at Joint Secretary/Joint Secretary equivalent level. Here is the full list:

Naresh Pal Gangwar (IAS) has been appointed as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change. According to the order, he has been appointed to the post with effect from the date of assumption of the charge of the post, for a tenure of five years or until further orders, whichever is earlier. Gangwar is an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) of 1994-batch. He is currently serving as Principal Secretary- Planning, Planning & Statistics Department & Information Technology & Communication in the state govt of Rajasthan. With his new assignment, he will replace Arvind Kumar Nautlyal (IRSME).

Priyank Bharti (IAS) has been appointed as Sr. Directing Staff (Civil) in the National Defence College under the Department of Defence. He has been appointed to the post for a period with effect from the date of assumption of the charge of the post, for an overall tenure of five years up to April 11, 2021, or until further orders, whichever is earlier. Bharti is an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of 2001-batch of Punjab cadre. He is currently serving as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways. With his new assignment, he will replace Abhay Tripathi (IAS). While the appointment of Ashish Chatterjee (IAS) for the same post has been cancelled, the order added. 

Vishal Chauhan (IAS) has been appointed as Joint Secretary in the Department of Health & Family Welfare. He has been appointed to the post with effect from the date of assumption of the charge of the post, for a tenure of five years or until further orders, whichever is earlier. Chauhan is a 1998-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of Sikkim cadre. With his new charge, he will replace Sudhir Kumar (IAS).

Sunil Kumar Barnwal (IAS) has been appointed as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs. According to the order he has been appointed to the post with effect from the date of assumption of the charge of the post, for a tenure of five years or until further orders, whichever is earlier. Barnwal is a 1997-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of Jharkhand cadre. He is currently serving in his home cadre. With his new assignment, he will replace Alaknanda Dayal (IAS).

Amit Varadan (IRTS) has been appointed as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways. He has been appointed to the post on a lateral shift basis, from the date of assumption of the charge of the post, for an overall tenure of five years up-to February 14, 2024, or until further orders, whichever is earlier. Vardhan is an Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS) officer of 1989-batch. He is currently serving as Joint Secretary in the Department of Heavy Industry. With his new assignment, he will replace Priyank Bharti (IAS).

Veena Kumari Dermal (IPoS) has been appointed as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Mines. She has been appointed to the post with effect from the date of assumption of the charge of the post, for a combined tenure of five years up to August 15, 2022, or until further orders, whichever is earlier. Dermal is Indian Postal Service (IPoS) officer of 1998-batch. She is currently serving as Director in the same Ministry. With her new assignment, she will replace K Rajeshwar Rao (IAS).

Atul Singh (IPS) has been appointed as Joint Secretary in the Department of Sports. According to the order, he has been appointed to the post on a lateral shift basis, from the date of assumption of the charge of the post, for an overall tenure of five years up to March 6, 2023, or until further orders, whichever is earlier. Singh is a 1995-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of Andhra Pradesh cadre. He is currently serving as Additional Secretary in the Central Vigilance Commission. With his new charge, he will replace Inder Dhamija (IFOS).
