ACC clears key appointments and tenure extension in Ministry of Law & Justice

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved a series of senior-level appointments and tenure-related decisions in the Ministry of Law & Justice

New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved a series of senior-level appointments and tenure-related decisions in the Ministry of Law & Justice, according to an official order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT).

In a significant move, the ACC has approved the appointment of Dr Anju Rathi Rana (ILS), currently serving as Secretary, Department of Legal Affairs, as Member Secretary of the 23rd Law Commission of India. She will assume the new role from the date of taking charge and continue till the end of the Commission’s term or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Further, the ACC has approved the extension of tenure of Dr. Rajiv Mani, (ILS), Secretary, Legislative Department. His tenure has been extended from January 9, 2026, to July 31, 2028, aligning with his date of superannuation, or until further orders.

Additionally, upon the relieving of Dr. Rana from her present charge, Dr Rajiv Mani will also hold additional charge of Secretary, Department of Legal Affairs. He will discharge the responsibilities until a regular incumbent is appointed or until further orders.
