Her appointment has been approved by the Govt under the Central Staffing Scheme for a tenure of four years from the date she assumes charge or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

She has been instructed to be relieved of her current responsibilities immediately in order to join her new assignment in Delhi.

Varsini is currently serving as the Secretary of the Telangana Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society (TSWREIS). With over a decade of experience in public administration, she has been at the forefront of key educational and welfare initiatives aimed at empowering marginalized communities. A Fulbright Scholar and Edward S. Mason Fellow, Dr. Varsini brings global academic and leadership experience to her role in transforming welfare-based education systems in India.

She is the driving force behind "Project Vigyan," a large-scale STEM education initiative that aims to benefit over 18,000 students from underprivileged backgrounds in Telangana. Known for her progressive and holistic approach to learning, she emphasizes life skills, scientific temper, and critical thinking. Despite facing political scrutiny over her remarks on student participation in hostel cleanliness, she stood by her intent to instill dignity of labor and responsibility among students. Her work continues to reflect a commitment to inclusive, value-based education and social empowerment.

The Department of Rural Development plays a key role in implementing programs aimed at poverty alleviation, employment generation, and infrastructure development in rural areas.
