Alok Ranjan (IPS) elevated to apex pay scale as Director of NCRB

New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the grant of the Apex pay scale to Alok Ranjan (IPS) with immediate effect on Thursday. Ranjan is a 1991 batch Indian Police Services (IPS) officer of the Madhya Pradesh cadre. Currently, he is serving as Director of the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB).

Ranjan is a seasoned IPS officer of the 1991 batch, belonging to the Madhya Pradesh cadre. He was appointed as Director of NCRB in September 2024 by the ACC on deputation, with the post temporarily upgraded to the rank equivalent to Director General, and his tenure was set to continue until his superannuation on June 30, 2026
