Alok Sharma (IPS) appointed as Director General of SPG

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Alok Sharma (IPS) as Director General of Special Protection Group (SPG)

New Delhi: Senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Alok Sharma has been as Director General of Special Protection Group (SPG) on Tuesday. “The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the proposal of the Office of Secretary (Security), Cabinet Secretariat for granting the grade of DG level (level 16 of pay matrix) to Shri Alok Sharma, IPS (UP:1991) by temporarily upgrading the post of Director, SPG to the level of DG as a measure personal to the officer,” a DoPT order said.

Sharma is a 1991-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of Uttar Pradesh. Presently, he is posted as Director in the same security group.

Sharma is a Science graduate (B Sc). He joined Indian Police Service in 1991. He has held very important positions in the state of Uttar Pradesh. Prior to his appointment as ADG, Sharma was serving as Inspector General (IG) Special Protection Group (SPG) since February 28, 2018.
