New Delhi: The Ministry of Mines' Secretary Alok Tandon (IAS) has been given additional charge as Secretary of the Ministry of Coal for eight days. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has on Tuesday approved the assignment of the additional charge of the post of Secretary of the Ministry of Coal to Tandon for a period of eight days from June 9 to June 16 as the Secretary Anil Kumar Jain (IAS) in on leave during the period.
Tandon is a 1986-batch, senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Uttar Pradesh cadre. He was appointed as Secretary in the Ministry of Mines on January 23.
The Ministry of Coal is an Indian government ministry headquartered in New Delhi. The portfolio is held by Cabinet Minister Pralhad Joshi. The Ministry is charged with exploration of coal and lignite reserves in India, production, supply, distribution and price of coal through the government-owned corporation's Coal India Limited and its subsidiaries as well as Neyveli Lignite Corporation.
