New Delhi: Amit Raj (IRS) has been selected for appointment as Director in the Ministry of Environment Forest & Climate Change, Delhi. According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) on March 14, Raj has been selected for the appointment under the Central Staffing Scheme for a period of five years with effect from the date of taking over charge of the post or until further orders, whichever event takes place earlier.

Raj is an Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer of 2007-batch. He was recommended for Central deputation by the Department of Revenue. "He may kindly be relieved of his duties immediately with instructions to take up his new assignment in the Mb Environment Forest & Climate Change," the order further added.

The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) is an Indian government ministry. It is responsible for planning, promoting, coordinating, and overseeing the implementation of environmental and forestry programmes in the country. The main activities undertaken by the ministry include conservation and survey of the flora of India and fauna of India, forests and other wilderness areas; prevention and control of pollution; afforestation, and land degradation mitigation. It is responsible for the administration of the 1947 national parks of India.
