Ashok Kumar Meena (IAS) gets additional charge as Environment Secretary

New Delhi: The Central Government has approved the assignment of additional charge of the post of Secretary, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change to Ashok Kumar Kaluaram Meena (IAS).

Meena is a 1993-batch IAS officer of the Odisha cadre, currently serving as Secretary in the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation, Ministry of Jal Shakti, effective October 2024. Previously, he was CMD of Food Corporation of India (FCI) and held key roles in Odisha, including Principal Secretary for Finance and Panchayati Raj.

He will assume the responsibility during the leave period of Tanmay Kumar, the incumbent Secretary in the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.

The arrangement ensures continuity in administrative functioning at the ministry during the temporary absence of the serving Secretary.
